Flow Meter Manufacturers and Suppliers Banner

Venturi flow meters, commonly just referred to as Venturi meters, are used to measure the flow rate of fluids in a wide range of applications.

While plumbing applications tend to be the most popular, Venturi meters can be used in applications that involve water, propane, oil and even gaseous fluids. Just like a lot of other flowmeters, Venturi flow meters utilize differential pressure in order to measure the rate of flow of a substance within a system. Because of this, Venturi flow meters are highly popular in many industries and also in commercial purposes. Read More…Request for Quote

Venturi flow meters get their name from the Venturi effect, which occurs when a fluids pressure is reduced due to flowing through a constricted pipe.

Venturi flow meters themselves are made up of a number of different components, but perhaps the most important is the Venturi tube which causes the Venturi effect.

This tube is placed within the pipeline system in order to gradually decrease the diameter of the pipe, this decrease is what causes the Venturi effect and causes the pressure differential which is then used to measure the rate of flow of the fluid.

There are a number of factors to consider before purchasing a Venturi flow meter in order to ensure that this type of meter is right for your application as Venturi meters may not work with all substances.

Due to their reliability and long lifespan, Venturi flow meters are a popular choice among a number of different industries. This reliability and long-term performance is due to the relatively simple concept, design, and a lack of moving parts.

This type of flow meter offers accuracy that a lot of other flow meter designs do not, so it is often used for standard flow calibration.

There are minor drawbacks of Venturi flow meters as the fluid is slowed down while flowing through the Venturi tube, and while the fluid gains some of the momentum back upon exiting the tube through the conical exit there is still potential for some loss of energy.

Overall, the Venturi flow meter is a great, economical choice that should be considered if you are looking for a flow meter for your application.
